The older vampire is competent and responsible when it comes to his work (including his task of being En's guardian) but Ichii has been around a long time and is not shy about what he wants - and what he wants is En. And the two have some interesting chemistry both romantically and as a world-weary mentor who contrasts En's inexperience. Clueless of the rules, the culture, and of what all being a vampire entails, right now En is entirely dependant on the deuteragonist, Ichii, to show him the way. As a human, he was a homeless teenager in the process of figuring himself and his life out, and now as a vampire he must do the same on top of adjusting to the loss of his humanity and trying to navigate the vampire world. Our somewhat innocent protagonist, En, is new to the vampire gig. I found the main couple to be particularly sweet and I especially enjoyed the wide range of different vampires the readers meet. I may be biased considering I love both vampires and boys-love stories, and I'll admit the idea of a supernatural welfare organization is hardly a new concept in manga, but "Fangs" was a delight to read. I really enjoyed the first volume of this vampire BL.
